Stool Tests & Accessories for Fecal Examinations
A stool test can be used for diagnosis of various diseases. Most often, stool is examined for purposes of colon cancer prevention and for early recognition of the preliminary stages of cancer in blood impurities, respectively. However, worm eggs and bacteria can also be detected with a stool test.

Importance of Colorectal Cancer Screening
The stool test for blood traces represents the most important initial screening for colorectal cancer. Current guidelines recommend that screening of individuals at average risk for CRC begin at the age of 50.
If the test result is positive, a colonoscopy is usually performed to determine the cause of the bleeding. A common finding is a polypoid mucosal change, which carries a risk of malignancy according to the adenoma–carcinoma sequence theory and is therefore often removed during the examination.
Approximately 10% of patients with a positive test result are subsequently diagnosed with malignant cancer. The advantage of the initial stool test is that the cancer can be detected at an earlier stage than if a colonoscopy were only performed after clinical symptoms such as constipation or anaemia appeared.
The earlier colorectal cancer is detected, the better the treatment options, such as curative surgery. Studies conducted to date suggest that, for every 1,000 people who undergo regular testing over ten years, one fewer person dies from colorectal cancer during that period.
Stool Tests & Suitable Collection Tubes for Sample Shipping
