The Anatomy of a 3M™ Littmann® Stethoscope

Open Bell: The paediatric side can be converted into an open bell – the traditional method for listening to low-frequency sounds.

Chestpiece: The chestpiece forms a solid precision unit. The attached tube connector rotates smoothly, ensuring long-lasting durability.

Dual-Frequency Membrane: By applying light pressure to the chestpiece, low-frequency ranges can be auscultated. Increasing the pressure allows you to hear high-frequency sounds.

Tubing: The tubing bends easily without kinking and is resistant to regular cleaning. No natural rubber latex is used in its manufacture.

Eartubes: The eartubes feature adjustable tension and are made from a lightweight yet robust aluminium alloy. They offer an optimal fit within the ear canal.

Soft Eartips: The eartips provide excellent sealing and a comfortable wearing experience.

What Should You Consider When Buying a Stethoscope?

Step 1: Visual Inspection

Hold the stethoscope by the eartubes and let it hang straight down.
