Sterilizers for Autoclaving Medical Products
The autoclave, also known as a steam sterilizer, is a pressure vessel that can be closed gas-tight and in which sterile items are sterilized with the help of saturated steam. Steam sterilization takes place at temperatures between 120 °C and 143 °C and a pressure between 1 and 3 bar. As steam sterilizers work at a lower temperature than hot air sterilizers, this type of sterilization can also be used for more temperature-sensitive materials, such as textiles.
Especially in surgeries, hospitals, laboratories or other medical facilities, autoclaves are used for the sterilization of e.g. medical instruments, surgical linen or swabs. In this category you will find a large selection of devices for class B and S steam sterilization.
If only simple hollow instruments, such as scissors or clamps, are sterilized alongside packed or unpacked instruments, an S-class autoclave is sufficient. These operate using a fractional steam procedure or a simple pre-vacuum. If an S-class autoclave meets your needs, we recommend the Euroklav Class S Autoclave from Melag. This unit offers 4 programs with pre- and post-vacuum cycles, as well as a 20-minute quick program, allowing sterilized instruments to be ready for use quickly. Overall, the Melag autoclave accommodates up to 5 trays and is available with either an 18-litre or 22-litre chamber.
