Scalpels and Blades for Surgical Use
Scalpels are among the most important surgical instruments in medical practices, clinics, and outpatient facilities. They are used in surgical procedures to make precise, clean incisions in tissue.
Historically, scalpels were usually one-piece instruments that were cleaned, sterilised, and reused after each procedure. Today, two-part scalpels are more common, consisting of a disposable blade and a sterilizable handle. Alongside reusable scalpel handles, single-use instruments are increasingly popular, with used blades safely disposed of in puncture-resistant containers.
Additional single-use instruments, practical instrument sets, and other operating theatre supplies such as skin markers or surgical drapes can be found in our Instruments category overview.
Disposable Scalpels & Disposable Safety Scalpels
Surgical scalpels that are disposed of whole after use reduce the risk of injury and infection for staff in hospitals and doctors' surgeries. Disposable scalpels come in various designs, differing not only in the shape of their blade but also in the safety mechanism.
