Scalers for Removing Plaque

A dental scaler is a metal hand tool with an end shaped like a hook and is designed to help dentists remove hardened plaque on the teeth and from under the gums as well as for cleaning teeth. The stainless steel scalers can be disinfected and sterilised after use.

The Mitchell Periodontal Scaler is suitable for removing hard deposits, plaque or tartar. This double-ended dental instrument has two functional heads with a hook and a spoon. The grooved handle gives the dental tool a good grip and a comfortable hold and enables safe guiding on the tooth.

The Black Enamel Instrument is also double-ended and very easy to guide. The dental hand instrument has unilateral sharpened functional ends, a grooved handle and is optionally available with straight or curved functional ends.

Curettes for Periodontal Treatment

Dental scaling is a procedure that is typically used to treat gum disease by removing toxins in the mouth that are known to cause gum inflammation and bleeding when brushing and flossing.

The McCall Universal Curette is suitable for removing moderate to heavy tartar from the teeth. The curette tips are adapted to the shape of the tooth and can be used to remove plaque in the supra- and subgingival areas. The double-ended periodontal curette is made of stainless medical-grade steel and can be used to remove plaque and calculus in the gingival pocket and at the gumline.

Gracey Curettes were developed by Dr Clayton Gracey in the 1940s to better treat periodontal disease. These curettes were designed to be used on specific tooth surfaces. The Gracey area specific designs have become the most popular instruments for treating periodontitis or gum inflammation. The Gracey style curettes in our shop are double-ended with a sharply milled instrument tip that conforms to tooth anatomy. The ergonomically shaped handle of the Gracey curette is colour-coded and silicone-covered and ensures an excellent grip and comfortable handling.
