ABI System for Establishing the Ankle-brachial Index
ABI systems are used to establish the so-called Ankle-brachial index. With an ABI system, the blood pressure can be measured on all 4 extremities, simultaneously. The Ankle-brachial index is calculated from the ascertained data. The ABI value provides information on the patient's cardiovascular risk and assists with progression evaluation of patients with a PAOD. The normal values lie between 0.9 and 1.2. The lower the value, the higher the extent of the circulatory disease.
