Criteria for the Praxisdienst Eco-Label

The following criteria serve as our guideline for the Praxisdienst Eco-Label. To be marked with the Praxisdienst Eco-Label in our online shop, a product must meet at least one of these requirements:

  • Made from recycled or renewable raw materials
  • Fully biodegradable or compostable
  • Produced using environmentally friendly methods
  • Manufacturer’s packaging is plastic-free

 

Why the Praxisdienst Eco-Label?

Having already implemented numerous measures internally to reduce our ecological footprint, Praxisdienst now also offers customers the opportunity to contribute to climate protection by choosing sustainable products.

The Journey to Sustainability

 

As a socially responsible company, we have made it our mission to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible.

For this reason, we began years ago to restructure our operations and make them more sustainable.

In the first step, we switched to renewable energy. The photovoltaic system on the roof of our new logistics centre already produces enough electricity to supply our entire logistics infrastructure. Additionally, a new state-of-the-art wind turbine is currently being tested on the roof of our office building. If the pilot proves successful, we plan to expand both photovoltaic and wind energy installations in the future to meet our energy needs entirely with renewable sources.

The second step involved equipping the logistics centre and office spaces with energy-efficient LED lighting. LEDs are not only highly durable but also consume less energy than conventional lighting. This allowed us to reduce our energy consumption by approximately 40%.

In the third step, we invested in machines capable of precisely measuring goods and creating custom-sized boxes. This reduces unnecessary waste and allowed us to cut our package volume by 40%, minimising both freight volume and the number of shipments.

One of our latest initiatives is to convert our vehicle fleet. Our previously highly efficient diesel vehicles have already been gradually replaced with climate-friendly electric vehicles. Our long-term goal is to operate a fully electric fleet, which is not only more efficient but also offers a better environmental footprint.

As a core element of our sustainability efforts, we have also been using climate-neutral shipping via DPD for many years. This allows us to fully offset the CO2 emissions from parcel shipments through investments in climate projects.

We are still very much at the beginning of our quest to reduce our ecological footprint. We continue to work ambitiously on improving and expanding our concept for more sustainability. We are aware that we still have some way to go before we reach our goal. However, we are already making good use of the possibilities available to us today. We don't have time to waste.

Praxisdienst Refurbished

Through our partnership with Med4Rent, a specialised provider of medical technology rentals, a sustainable device cycle is created, benefiting our customers as well. Med4Rent supplies high-quality medical devices for a defined period on a rental basis. At the end of the rental period, many of these devices are returned – often in excellent technical condition and still fully functional. 

Rather than removing this medical technology prematurely from the usage cycle, the devices are carefully inspected by us upon return and, if necessary, technically refurbished. Only then do we offer the devices for sale at a reduced price. This way, you receive reliable, tested devices with a warranty that continue to meet the demands of daily work in medical practices and clinics – all at an affordable price. 

This model enables the extended, meaningful use of high-quality medical technology and conserves resources. By refurbishing and giving devices a second lifecycle, unnecessary material and energy consumption is reduced – a small but important contribution to greater sustainability in healthcare. At the same time, you benefit from economically attractive solutions without compromising on quality and safety.
