Social Responsibility

Sustainable Success

Praxisdienst is not a branch of a multinational corporation, but a privately owned company that is fully aware of its roots and its responsibility to customers, employees, business partners, and society at large. Our business practices are always guided by sustainability and respect for our environment—ensuring that our 65-year history of success continues for many years to come.

Environment

Act Responsibly, Preserve Resources
As our company grows and expands its global reach, our contribution to environmental protection becomes increasingly significant. Read on to discover the concrete steps we take to act resource-efficiently and minimise our impact on the environment.

Generating Power with Photovoltaic Technology

As our business has grown, we've had to expand our storage capacities multiple times in recent years. From the outset, we've prioritised energy efficiency and environmentally friendly solutions in our planning. In our latest expansion, we installed a photovoltaic system on the new roof area to generate solar power. Under optimal conditions, this system can provide enough energy to power our entire logistics infrastructure. We're already planning for future expansion of the system and aim to eventually meet all of our electricity needs with renewable energy technology.

Wind Turbine Test Project

We've installed a cutting-edge wind turbine on the roof of our recently expanded office building. This is currently a test project to determine its viability for daily use. The objective is clear: if the turbine proves to be effective in its location, we'll have the green light to utilise it on a more extensive scale.

LED Lighting

Whenever feasible and practical, we opt for LED technology to illuminate our facilities. Our recently constructed logistics building is a prime example, as it is entirely outfitted with LED lighting. The benefits are clear: in addition to substantial energy savings of around 40%, LED fixtures offer significantly longer lifespans. This dual benefit has a positive impact on the environment. Additionally, LED lighting produces minimal heat, reducing the risk of fire.

Waste Prevention

Online retailers are frequently accused of producing excessive packaging waste. However, we are bucking this trend and are actively committed to waste reduction. When storing pallets, we minimise the use of stretch film, which is commonly overused in the logistics industry. For the unavoidable selection of filling materials, we weigh the ecological impact of using voluminous paper materials, which contribute to excess paper waste, against the use of air-filled plastic film, which can be easily shredded at the recipient's end and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

Reducing CO2 Emissions

As a company that moves substantial volumes and purchases goods mainly in large quantities, we receive deliveries primarily in the form of full containers. This approach results in a sharp reduction in small quantity deliveries, fewer trips, and a smaller environmental impact.

We exclusively work with environmentally conscious postal companies to minimise our carbon footprint. For instance, we are part of the CO2-neutral GoGreen programme offered by Deutsche Post/DHL (www.dhl.de) for delivering our print media. Additionally, our numerous product packages are delivered to our customers through the CO2-neutral parcel and express service provider, dpd (www.dpd.de).

Electric Vehicle Fleet

We have initiated the transition of our vehicle fleet to eco-friendly electric vehicles. Gradually, these innovative e-vehicles will supplement our fleet and replace our already highly efficient diesel vehicles. Our ultimate objective is to equip the entire fleet with electric vehicles in the medium term.

Employee Satisfaction

Together is how we succeed.

We know that a company’s success depends on its employees and that only satisfied employees can deliver outstanding performance. For this reason, it is our principle to employ staff on fair terms. Despite our dynamic growth, we do not use temporary agency workers and do not employ staff in marginal part-time positions. All salaries at Praxisdienst are significantly above the statutory minimum wage in Germany.

At Praxisdienst, we value and welcome colleagues from diverse backgrounds and experiences, regardless of age, ethnicity, or language. Our inclusive and diverse team is what distinguishes us and enables us to be innovative, agile, and receptive to fresh concepts.

We firmly believe in treating all of our employees with fairness and equality, and we firmly oppose any form of discrimination based on gender, religion, ideology, or sexual orientation.

Suppliers

Ensuring Fairness Along the Entire Supply Chain
Competition and consolidation in the medical device market are steadily increasing, along with the pressure on all parties to offer their services at the lowest possible cost. Nevertheless, Praxisdienst is committed to maintaining high social standards across the entire supply chain. We work with reputable manufacturers and verify on-site—inside the factories, not just in the offices—that fair working conditions are upheld for all employees.

We know exactly where our products come from, allowing us to ensure that social standards are upheld and local minimum wages are paid. We can also confidently rule out the use of child labour in the factories.

European engineering enjoys an excellent reputation, particularly in the field of medical technology. We are therefore especially proud that numerous European manufacturers choose Praxisdienst as their distribution partner. Fairness and respect towards our suppliers are our top priorities. We work not only with established industry leaders but are also open to partnerships with young, innovative companies. This approach ensures that our product range is both quality-focused and forward-looking.
