Prophylaxis and Treatment of Calf Diarrhoea

Diarrhoea in newborn calves is known as one of the most common and costly diseases in young calves. The acute disorder usually occurs during the first two or three weeks of their life and affects whole groups. During treatment, it is important to cover the nutritional and energy requirements, and to replace lost fluids, electrolytes and buffer substances.

For this purpose, we offer you various dietary supplements for the prophylaxis and treatment of calf diarrhoea. These include the pulverised Agrobac-K forte.

Breeding and Strenghtening the Immune System

We offer a range of dietary supplements for the prevention and treatment of calf diarrhoea. One example is the powdered supplement Agrobac-K forte, which helps support digestive health in young calves.

In some cases, the immunoglobulins acquired through colostrum may not provide sufficient protection against early-life diseases. To support healthy growth, stabilisation of the gut flora, and immune system development, products such as Probicol-K are used. These supplements are particularly beneficial for weak or underweight calves, helping them gain energy, support cell development, and strengthen overall vitality.

For prevention, a dose of Probicol-K Paste is administered immediately after birth. Since newborn calves do not yet have a fully developed immune system, this supplement helps protect the immunoglobulins obtained from colostrum, offering crucial support against early infections.

As colostrum alone may not always be sufficient, Probicol-K provides essential assistance in raising healthy, strong calves.

Ferrovital-K iron paste also provides important support by promoting blood formation and thus helping to prevent iron deficiency anaemia. The practical injector with scale ensures that this supplement can be easily dosed and administered to calves.

Milk Fever Prophylaxis

If blood calcium levels in older or high-yielding cows drop significantly, it can lead to hypocalcaemic paresis, also known as milk fever. This condition is usually caused by excessive calcium intake before calving.

To help maintain a balanced calcium-phosphorus ratio, we recommend Calz-o-Phos Liquid, which can be administered easily and stress-free either directly into the mouth with a bottle or mixed into the feed. Unlike calcium chloride-based products, it is gentle on the mucous membranes and well tolerated.
