Nasal Speculum
Nasal Speculum for Examination of the Nasal Interior
The nasal speculum is a medical instrument that is most often used for rhinoscopy in ENT surgeries. The speculum is constructed in such a way that the nasal speculum blades are spread by pressing the handles together. This allows the nostrils to be spread apart by the nasal speculum blades. In this way, the doctor can examine the mucous membrane, nasal septum or nasal turbinates more easily. Furthermore, the nasal speculum makes it easier to insert and manipulate instruments in the nasal interior. Nasal specula are often equipped with a spring element with which pressure can be more accurately applied.
