Non-Sterile Gloves
Examination Gloves for Veterinarians
Making sure a vet clinic is in pristine condition and adhering to hygiene best practices is a top priority for vets. This includes hand disinfection and wearing examination gloves. This not only protects veterinary staff from direct contact with potentially infectious body fluids, but also prevents the transmission of infection.
Examination gloves for veterinarians are available in many different designs - they differ not only in material, but also in length, for example. However, disposable gloves not only offer ideal protection against germs, they also protect the wearer from dirt and moisture that can occur during the treatment and care of animals.
Disposable Nitrile & Latex Gloves
Disposable gloves can be made of different materials - the most common are latex gloves and nitrile gloves. Both types of gloves are characterised by their high elasticity, tear resistance and good tactile sensitivity.
However, as many veterinarians and veterinary staff are sensitive to latex or have a latex allergy, nitrile gloves have become increasingly popular. The MICRO-TOUCH® Nitrafree™ examination gloves from Ansell, for example, offer a safe wet and dry grip and are ideal for work in the healthcare sector.
Both latex and nitrile disposable gloves usually have an anatomical fit, are comfortable to wear and allow fatigue-free work. Examination gloves made of nitrile are also tear-resistant, virus-impermeable and chemical-resistant. This makes them particularly versatile and suitable for use in many work areas.
Veterinary Gloves for Treating Farm Animals
In contrast to conventional examination gloves for veterinarians, veterinary gloves are mainly used in agriculture or large animal husbandry. Veterinary gloves are generally shoulder-length and are usually made of PE.
They are used, for example, for rectal or vaginal examinations, inseminations and obstetrics in cows, horses and other large animals. In our shop, you may purchase the tear-resistant PROGAN® Veterinary Glove from Génia. The glove is made of stretchable polyethylene and has particularly strong, thin seams. The gloves do not affect tactile sensitivity.
Veterinary gloves are often transparent and colourless so that secretion and blood colours can be examined without distortion. To ensure a non-slip fit, veterinary gloves often have a head loop that prevents the disposable gloves from slipping down during examination.
Disposable Gloves - an important consumable not only for veterinarians
Examination gloves are not only used in veterinary practices - they are used in all areas where infection transmission from animal to human or from animal to animal must be avoided. These include, for example, animal shelters, boarding kennels, breeding and zoological facilities.
